Love, by meA Poem by Shreya DixitThis poem portrays my vision of love.
Someone asked me;
"What's the love for you?" So I closed my eyes, Lost in the haze of my blues. Then I swallowed those memories in vain, And answered with a smile hiding that bitter-sweet pain. I recalled our first day, When we exchanged our books. Me felling for your innocence, And not just for looks. It's not that physical touch, And those desirable kisses. Love is just admiring you from afar, And whisper your name in my fervent wishes. Love is not longing for you, With some selfish expectations. You just simply exist, And my heart melts for you in devotion. Holding your warm,inviting hands when you walk, Staring at your sultry lips when you talk. Looking in those velvet cinnamon eyes of yours, With dying desires to show them all vibrant colours. Love is not yearning to keep you always in sight, But one glance that enshrines you forever tight. It's not about enthralling and possessing you, But for the sake of your happiness letting you go too. Love is not about waking by your sight, When the sun rises and the day shines bright. Yet sometimes it's about fancying you in dreams in delight , When I'm lost in your thoughts on a moonlit night. Swaying my thoughts to conclude I would say; For someone, love is about sunrise and a hopeful high, While to the other it's a sunset with goodbye. For the former, it's a promise to always return the next day, But for the latter it's an unrequited love that would never stay. © 2025 Shreya DixitAuthor's Note
