Dreamers

Dreamers

A Poem by Shreya Dixit
"

This poem discovers the emotional journeys of dreamers who weave fantastical worlds to escape pain and find happiness.

"
I wonder where all the dreamers go ,
Sometimes I want to know.
When life hits them so harsh,
When real emotions have no more spark.

When they can't relate to the real world,
When there's no one to endorse their words.
Look they just rush to their comfort place.
In moments of self-cumming, a peaceful space.

There they dream of a happy peaceful life,
Manifesting someone standing always by their side.
Oh see! their hypothetical universe,
Seems more perfect than the actual world.

Albeit, their vision of comforting life is mere illusion,
But atleast for a moment, they smile consoled by their imagination,
With lies ,they soothe life's poignant pain,
And face tomorrow smiling once again.

Being a dreamer, I wonder where they roam,
Those escapees, finding fantasies their second home.
Do they ever return to reality's shore?
Or forever lost, adoring vanities they allure?

This is interesting. I remember that HP Lovecraft was referred to reality, as "mundane"; and creative minds often shun the routines of every day life. Indeed, we can sometimes become lost in this dream world; rather than focusing upon what's generally considered to be normal. This poem seems to be partly a homage to such creative thinkers, but also raises good questions about their approach. For example, where do they go; and "do they ever return to reality's shore?" She also emphasises, that such dreaming is a form of escapism. And, can only provide at best; a temporary escape from the actual world. Of course, circumstances in life, usually compel even the dreamiest of dreamers; to eventually deal with ordinary day to day matters. And, extreme cases are relatively few, except perhaps for those who have sufficient resources; to almost completely retreat into their utopian dreams.? That was good to read, and makes different points for readers to consider. I would welcome further "read requests". Thanks.
