Beautiful Losers

Beautiful Losers

A Poem by I Shred This Cabbage
"

Let us compare now
The lowest ebbs of our depressions.

There won’t be a later.

Tell me now of your deepest betrayals
And desire for redemption,
As we crest the climax
Of our longing
And read poems to each other
From A Ballad of Lepers.

Let this desire become an incurable regret,
And this passion become a wreath of violent capitulum.

Without love, there is nothing sacred.

Without you there is no themes left to explore.

No dimensions to find the limitations of,
No aspirations to embrace, or boundaries to transend,
or profane commitments to ignore.

Only that dread flow of feelings,
In this search for a straight, melodic line,
In a world full of troubled orchestras now.

This captures the desire we all have to share ourselves and know another completely.
I love the ending as well. The term “melodic line” is beautiful to me.
It was a lovely read

a sharp-edged expression of that longing to find someone as broken as you are. perhaps misery can take us somewhere, lead us towards beautiful friendships, or a life-affirming answer? only time will tell.
