For the Sake of Love

We should only love for love’s sake.

Not to create a parallel,
Or to perform another didactic reason to live,
But to love and in turn be loved.

We don’t need to confess ourselves
Wanting in dignity or truth,
Or permit ourselves to look into our own souls,
So to discover that there exists under the sun
No will, or any force more thoroughly dignified and noble,
than that of this love.

This love that needs nothing more,
And this poem written solely for you.
