Song for Alexandria

Song for Alexandria

A Poem by I Shred This Cabbage
"

You were more than a spiritual journey to me.

You started a silent liberation in my heart,
But I rejected and closed it over.

I closed out the dreams and labyrinths you explored with me;

The infinity and chances you took on me;

The mythology and mirrors you saw in me;

The well you tried to climb up
And out for me.

Like Borges I became blindness,
A sight turned wholly in on itself.

Until the immorality and immortality of love
Was just something we talked about once,
Through endless nights.

I hope Alexandria, all the Alexandrias in the world, get a chance to see this. to me, it reads like all the things we were never brave enough to say to that special someone in our life. the line "The mythology and mirrors you saw in me" is not only a great use of alliteration, but says a lot and on so many levels. I am mythology: a story full of mysteries and intigue and Freudian symbolism. I am also a mirror: that i reflect your beauty and movements back to you.

There is so much in this short poem. It is like looking in a mirror reflecting a mirror. It plays with the infinite and finite while reflecting on a love that no longer is.
I really enjoyed reading it

A fine write about unintended loss plus, the discovery that one can jump into backward motion without meaning to. Precise words, gently self-analytical.. but you're not the only being who has done that! Best keep staring into both wells and mirrors til thoughts glaze over, perhaps.

This is so good, And so sad the liberation only went so far....I experienced similar to this.
Ended up being too chicken to make the myth a reality.
