Brave New World

Brave New World

A Poem by John Fitzgerald

O loneliness!
How many sorry failures must we endure
Before we succeed in giving up!

Tonight, I’m sleep-learning to forget you

What hideous nature this is
So beautifully and irresponsibly free!

Clouds gravid with rain
obscure the sunlit world beyond your window

Internecine struggles clash heavily
In an unhappy heart

And we are lost in this moment
So distinctly together
