Queen Velutina

Queen Velutina

A Poem by John Fitzgerald

Queen Velutina,
invade my mind again
with your velvety presence

Memories are insufficient in colour and detail

Each narrow border narrows further until
no thought of you can locate the apiary

Until you are relegated to no more than unvoiced whispers and invisible impressions

My mind protecting its nest
as a possible anti-parasitic measure

Wonderful metaphor lies in this nest, just waiting to take off and fly into the mind of the reader.
