Flashbacks

A Story by But?shouldyouneedus?

Your name rattled through my body
Breaking some bones on way through my limbs
And suddenly all I can think of
Is you
And I remember that time we went to the football game and ditched before halftime
Neither of us even like football
Maybe it was just the thing to do on a friday night
We went to Gary's and got some brownie ice cream and sat in your car and talked because screw athlete stereotypes right ?
Or that time your parents had date night so we had the house to ourselves
I think we were almost the second season deep of greys when they came home.
You rested your head on my shoulder and waited for the s**t storm of god knows what from your father.
Or that time you almost hit a bunny driving on my grandmothers street
You had the chance to swerve and took it
Even though you're not supposed to
Or god that time that you showed up after months of us not speaking
With good reason
A lit joint and you leaning against your car, as always.
And I fell in love all over again
After that i got yelled at that I don't watch enough romance movies.
Why didn't I kiss her?
I still am not sure.
But they're right, I hate romance movies.
Our shared best friend was our only link left at the time.
Now we have none.
But there you were again,
Same old you I remember
And your eyes still light up that way they did
And your smile
and your blissful confusion.
It bruises my pride that I still crumble at the knees when I see you.
That's just something I'll never get over.
You.
