As the wind begins to howl

As the wind begins to howl

A Poem by Shivan Reaper

As the wind begins to howl and the sky darkens,

And then the lightning crashes and the thunder roars,

The rain pelts down in an angry torrent,

Soaking instantly those foolish enough to be caught in it.

From shelter I stand and watch with awe,

Nature’s fury unleashed against us all,

And though I know that where I stand is safe for now,

In the end the Elements shall conquer all.

For as the stream wears away at the mighty boulder,

And the wind and blown sand etch solid rock,

So to can the cold and ice shatter the strongest steel,

The patient and implacable force that is nature shall prevail.

So before you put too much faith in the works of man,

As you hide behind the bulwarks you believe so mighty,

It would serve you well if you would recall,

That Nature’s full fury can easily destroy it all.
