The Ending

The Ending

A Poem by Shivam Murari
"

The poem has been inspired by the emotion of ending of school life.

"

The Ending

No more excitement of a new section

No more thrill of new friends

No more fear of losing besties

No more drama of classmates

No more getting up early

No more doing home works

No more cracking on old jokes

No more embracing friends.

No more school….

On this last day of my schooling

I sit on my messy bed

With a paper and a pen

And no idea in my head

I use poems to release emotions

But today I couldn’t find any

Or maybe I couldn’t grasp one

For there are way too many.

There are no teardrops on my paper

Did something ruin my love

Did the past two years torture too much

Or maybe I just have had enough

But wait! I do have memories

A kid of 4 feet 5.

Heaving a blue coloured bag

Till so innocent and naïve.

As I clear up the mess a bit

I think of class six

How he failed to recognize Aria

And how a classmate put him in a fix.

The apparent heart aches and breaks

The common teenage pang

Of which he was totally unaware

Or had he been ignorant twang?

Before he learned to face iota

‘He had to confront humiliation

For mistakes that didn’t exist.

Knocking voices and vibration

Enter Asif and Divyanshu

The ones who stayed through all phase.

Through the joys and the arguments

Through the lonely maze.

Sorry the pen fell down

Now as I pick it up

I fast forward to the point

Which sticks stale in the cup.

Has a friend named Vikram

Several lessons from whom I took

Taught me the reality of life

Was way too different from Ethics book.

The last two years are the ones

I would really never talk about

Deleting them from my memories.

Assuming their absence, no doubt.

Now he is 5 feet 8

Reminiscing his gradual growth

It is the time to say good bye

And leave foot prints on sand froth.

Shall the words remain

The aura of love I’m sending

With a sense of analogy

I give the poem the ending.

Author's Note

Shivam Murari
This is the poem that I wrote because I wanted to and not because it came to me. This was a completely new experience. As I mentioned in the poem,

"I use poems to release emotions

But today I couldn’t find any

Or maybe I couldn’t grasp one

For there are way too many."

So please tell me how it is, express your opinion. You may, if you want, share your own last school day experience :)

It's all so true! I'm graduating this coming year, and I know how it feels. I always say I can't wait to get out of that place of hell, but I'm actually kind of sad to leave. When a place is new, all the excitement gets to your head, but slowly fades away over time, until it returns for your final year.

Dear Shivam, I just liked very much the artistic touch you have to create this amazing poem in form of attractive diary. It`s full of intimate thoughts, memories and nostalgia...and little love though...Do you really feel sad for the end of the school? I can imagine your feelings, we miss always something which seem to be lost. But then is the new beginning ahead! I loved the nice flowing verses and rhymes, the way you add moments of your years at the school, as well as your friends names...I wanted to ask some questions, even may seem ignorant (as I live in Europe). Is your class only from boys? Or the school in general has the division? As you didnt mention any girl name in your poem...(or broken heart:) ..And which is very good of course. Leave it for the university years! *My last school day actually was..the happiest day as I hated my school :) But then university was something different...
I liked much these verses:

There are no teardrops on my paper

Did something ruin my love

Did the past two years torture too much

Or maybe I just have had enough

Its always good and important to ask questions even in poems! and even if we cant give clear answers...
Its nice to read this poem and see photos of you!

I actually love the fact that you asked the questions. First of all thanks a lot for coming around a.. read more
Whenever I even think of the day, when I will have to left school, it gives me horrendous goosebumps. I recently had the privilege to deliver a farewell speech for the sake of my seniors, who were leaving the school.

This poem of yours is a masterpiece, leaving me with no words to describe it's elegance. I can see the emotions, with which you have crafted this poem. I can easily see the feelings that you want to convey.

It is really an inspiration to read this piece of yours. Without any sort of extravagant vocabulary, or flamboyance you have penned the poem, which has enough potential to amaze anybody.

As the adage goes "A picture is better than thousand words". Your images, which I am sure gives you nostalgic vibe of your previous days, are also great.

Great going bro ;) Study hard.. not hardly :P
It's better to have gone and miss it than to never have experienced it at all.
The first stanza could have also referred to the ending of a book or a good movie or something like that if you think about it.
I like that it was a mix of poem and story. Of memory and now.
Well done. ^^

Shivam! I almost cried when I read this. This brought back the memories of my high school years and my college years where I have only one year left. It's true... We will miss school when we leave it. ;)

I hope you the best in the ending of your school life and in the beginning of a new chapter.

Definitely. Thank you for reading and expressing. :)
You did this very well. I remember the sadness I felt when leaving high school. I had lots of friends I had to say goodbye to. You touched on so much in this poem and the last picture really is the truth. Great poem.
