Waiting To Forgive You

Waiting To Forgive You

A Poem by Shivam Murari
"

The poem about my depressing friendship with someone who was never my friend but would say that he is my "best friend".

"

Waiting To Forgive You

Curves, black, red and pale

Every letter written on your school bag

All the words go stale.

Weren’t those written by our friends on the last day

With the colourless markers of age

They are all there, stuck in my head

Like stunning words from a different language.

But the leaves shed off

The peaceful blue sky turned grey

The even red turned rough

Where is the hope, where is the ray?

I still have the memories of you and me

Our friendship that looked all so true

I still have bells in the back of my head

Believe it or not, I’m waiting to forgive you.

Those classes in which we sat together

You taught me hi-fives

And raps of Eminem, I gather.

Remember the drama with your ex-girlfriend?

And the trust that you never had on me?

And when she left you for a new boyfriend

“Warned you long ago, didn’t I, really?

I still have the memories of you and me

Endlessly insulting her, until apart, we grew.

I still remember the 12th of December, when you said “Who’re you?”

But believe it or not, I’m still waiting to forgive you.

You trusted me at the last

You came to me, only when you needed.

So here’s this poem as the blast.

Remember how you changed your seats

Was I really that awkward, you adamant?

You had better friends, I understand,

So why did you do the drama of being the best confidant.

I still have the memories of you and me

And for all we shared as best friends, I just rue.

Betrayal and insult, is all I ever got.

But still, yes still, I’m waiting to forgive you…

This is one poem which I wrote with extreme sad emotions. Yes, this is completely my story. Everything I and my 'best friend' did. I hope you could feel the heated and watery emotions of this poem.

this poem was ever so sad and heartbreaking- really focused in on some unique images that come with the difficulty of friendships. especially in high school, relationships can become difficult and complicated, but it helps us learn because in the end we come out knowing who was true and right and who was not. although this may have been sad, i'm sure you learned from it! this was a great piece, your anger and sadness transcended and i love the repetition that you use. good job!

You have open the bottle and poured sadness all over the page my friend. It is dripping off of the edges and making a mess on the carpet. Very nicely done.

Thanks a lot Moon. Your coming around and reading is appreciated :)
You have written about the complexities of friendships-relationships ( all the demands, the passion of school aged ties, the youthful enthusiasm, sensitivities, insensitivities, bullying traits) extremely well here, I felt. It is almost as if you are presently at school or have just left......screaming from the school gates to counter the noise of the other pupils, great, engaging poetry from you Shivam Murari.

That poem is really sad and at first I was confused then I started understanding it. I find it to be sad and it's really sad. Its good. And the drama and the feeling of betrayal was so real, I could feel it in my bones. Good job.

Thank you so much for the appreciation and those encouraging words :)
Ahh.. Its hard to revisit some old broken memories of friendship....
Forgiving someone is hard, even harder when you know all the efforts of keeping the friendship was done by you.. And all other person did was ignore you...

Well keeping all those memories are even harder.. Sometime not talking doesn't help.. we need to tell other person about what we feel, but I guess in your case, the talking part was not conveyed properly..

But someday, don't worry Shivam, you will surely get a chance to tell him.. What he meant to u.. n What he did to you..!!

Nicely written... Sorry that you had such a incident in your life..!!

People change. Sometime we can't keep up or we advance too far . Lose people we once needed and wanted around. I like the thoughts and the hope in the poem. It is sad when two people lose connections and become distance. Thank you for the excellent poem. We need to open doors to new friendship and hope to have many good friends. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry. You made me think this early morning.

Thank you so much for those awesome encouraging words :)
I feel your anger and sadness very much. Your intent is clear and diction and syntax is excellent. Such a betrayal, when you have confided your entire soul to another and you and your friendship are least on their totem pole, while you held it in highest regard.
