Cool Oasis Sells Gas for Everything!

Look what drove into Cool Oasis gas station in Hagley Park in Kingston recently �" an authentic Jamaican classic cart �" seemingly mimicking those foreign-made, fuel-thirsty classic cars that adorn only special events such as Jamaica’s Independence, since 2003.

But don’t be fooled. Things are not always what they seem. This hugely-decorated, classically cool cart is nothing short of a classic car, albeit with much less horse power than its foreign antique counterparts.

In fact, it could be up for a prize for the most fuel-efficient classic cars anywhere in the world and become a symbol for clean energy.

Its lawn mower engine uses 87 petrol and $500 is just enough for its fill. But how long will that last or how fast it can travel would seem to depend on how much human power is applied to compliment its horse power.

What is clear, however, is that this boom box-enhanced mobile outfit selling from a pin to an anchor, including music CDs, represents the true innovative Jamaican spirit that has brought the country more firsts than its age since Independence.

Don’t be surprised then, if this classic cart opens the door for membership into the elite, Jamaica Classic Car Club.
