COLLATERALA Poem by ShirleyPOEM
COLLATERAL
infant fingers and toes paralyzed
soaking freshly washed sheets a ricochet bullet lodged within my head
don't take me I've just arrived, I pray thee let me live"
the magnificence of your skies? my golden hairs affirm your opulent sun?
shall I humble at deaths dark door? must war be both my dawning and my demise?
roam your waterways and shores embrace the very richness of your soil
has yet to kneel and pray my cries resound on cymbals sounding strong
the shots subside the blood pours from my head
my child like you they're lying dead"
