No More Will I RefrainA Poem by SJ RoeblingA dying man meets the Reaper...I feel your gaze upon me, Eyes as black as coal. Mesmerizing, Scrutinizing, Devouring my soul. A fragment of myself I keep, Am down, but yet not out. Disheveled mind, A warning sign, Certain in my doubt. Calamity, confusion, You like it much that way. Adversity, Ascendancy, Commotion, disarray. Indulging in the privilege, Of single sovereignty. Where none belong, There do I tread, Remain instead of flee. Strong within my wits, Sturdy in my stead. Questions plague me, Answers shade me, Too much there left unsaid. Despite, I face my fears, Let go my memories. Dreams beseech, Beyond my reach, Where such the blind can see.
Within my lost, I'm found My life, never in vain, For destiny waits, Beyond the gates, No more will I refrain.
