On the Eve of Destruction

On the Eve of Destruction

A Poem by Shiningdarkmoon

On the eve of destruction,
A blinding light flickers across the midnight sky,
Joyous screams of the guilty fill the air,
Innocent men screech out their final breath,
The city swallows in on itself in a crimson hue,

Time stands still in the carnage,
Death keeps the world at a strange peace,
Safety transforms from a given to a pipe dream,
The sanctity of life is a thing of the past,
Only the viciousness of the future exists,

From the ashes of the city,
And the powder of the bones,
The new order rises,
One that destroys all in its wake,
And maintains the fragile peace.
