Escaping The Storm

Escaping The Storm

A Poem by CStansfield
"

This poem really tells you about what people, especially young children, feel like when a hurricane or other storm hit their area. The people outside trying to escape, and all the stress and worrying.

"

I sat in the open room safe and sound

Trying to stay away safe from the storm

The clashing and banging was all around

I still had to wait long until the morn.

Sitting there, knowing people were outside

Is extremely disturbing in my mind

The sirens and shouts and yelps all collide

I sit wishing that I were deaf and blind

The storm blew harder against the building

But no one escaped the wrath of the storm

It blew faster, harder things were tilting

I hid further, it was starting to form

I have heard a jubilant shout at last

It seems that everyone has been held fast
