Little Barefoot Laughing Girl

I can still see her like this...

Little barefoot laughing girl

Dancing limbs content to twirl

Turns and runs with flapping arms

Captures me with childish charms

Wiggling toes beneath her gown

Comic grin - a precious clown

Pigtails, polka dots and bows

Standing up on tippy-toes

Magic permeates our days

Garden weeds become bouquets

Tiny birds, a nest above

Fuzzy kittens, baby love

Open arms held up to me

Innocent sincerity

Little fingers gently trace

Paths of love around my face

I am so glad I took notes way back when. A poem, like many things, is better late than never.
