Broken Pieces

Broken Pieces

A Chapter by Sheryll McKenzie

You slapped me
It's as if a romance was a big old riot
You yelled at me
But you helped me through the strife

Every game, every friendship
Every kiss on those lips
But you yelled “No
And like a soul you faded away

Now you’re just the past
A tornado that swayed off and away
You punched me like a blast
But you were then, and now’s today
I don’t even remember the magick I made to stop you
You already happened
I can’t take you away, I can just fix all your broken pieces
I’m over you
My phobia’s gone

I thought it’d happen to me

I thought I’d never see
Through my tears

I was so afraid,
I had had enough

And all my dreams left,
When I Do was said

But baby, I’m over you

You’re a past, I can see through you

You’re just an event that isn’t anymore

Yeah, you are no more

And I can see through you

Every game, every friendship
Every kiss on those lips
But you yelled “No
And like a soul you faded away

Now you’re just the past
A tornado that swayed off and away
You punched me like a blast
But you were then, and now’s today
I don’t even remember the magick I made to stop you
You already happened
I can’t take you away, I can just fix all your broken pieces
I’m over you
My phobia’s gone

I used to fear,
I used to cry,
I used to yell,
I nearly died

But I’ve had enough
of your sorrow

You’re the yesterday,
not the tomorrow

I did a chant, a spell
used rituals that day,
to send a big storm,
to throw you away

But you climbed to the top,
you still said “I do”

Even though I tried
to make you see things through

But I’ve had enough
I’m tired of your evil stuff

You’re the yesterday,
I’m sending you away

Every game, every friendship
Every kiss on those lips
But you yelled “No
And like a soul you faded away

Now you’re just the past
A tornado that swayed off and away
You punched me like a blast
But you were then, and now’s today
I don’t even remember the magick I made to stop you
You already happened
I can’t take you away, I can just fix all your broken pieces
I’m over you
My phobia’s gone

And now that you’re the past,
I don’t recall what I’m talking about

All I know is that I didn’t conform,
all I did was shout

But I can’t remember what happened that day

All I know is that I sent you away

I’m over you,

I’ve forgotten the pain you caused

Every game, every friendship
Every kiss on those lips
But you yelled “No
And like a soul you faded away

Now you’re just the past
A tornado that swayed off and away
You punched me like a blast
But you were then, and now’s today
I don’t even remember the magick I made to stop you
You already happened
I can’t take you away, I can just fix all your broken pieces
I’m over you
My phobia’s gone

Author's Note

Sheryll McKenzie
Sheryll wrote the lyrics and sang them as a memory of her parents' wedding, and the tornado that happened on that day (which she created by magick).
