For the sake of love

For the sake of love

A Poem by Sherika
"

read and you will see

"

You build my world yet break my spirit

Stories untold of the heart that lived it

Battered and bruised, molded and smoothed

Kisses and hugs, that’s all known to the outside few,

Break my body, take my heart

Love somebody, yet you tear them apart

Christmas and Easter, smiles to world

Gifts and parties, drunk and absurd

Hallucinations, paranoia, jealously in play

Your words are bitter, scolding me in every way
The bond it tightens, holding me in place

Love somebody, yet hate is what fills this space

Wanting nothing but freedom’s arms,

To hold and take me in it’s warmth

To let me be, to make me feel

I am numb, please set me free

I’m hear in bondage stuck under your thumb

Love somebody and yet I see no love

I like the way you are able to connect with your readers. This piece is filled with such powerful emotions. As I was reading this piece, I felt as if the narrator and I were one being experiencing the same emotions.

I like it! It floats, apart perhaps from the fourth line in the first stanza, but otherwise is it really good! Great theme.
