In the jungles of Gongora, a squad of men cautiously looks for the enemy. Out of the mist a young girl runs away from her own people and asks them to help her. Seymour believes her to be a spy and wants to kill her while another man, Apollo Ziv Oron asks her if she will fight with them. She agrees and with her halberd she and the squad take out the enemies. Seymour still suggests that they leave her behind but Apollo takes responsibility for her.

Proving to be loyal and stronger than many of the men in the squad and more knowledgeable about the area than any of them, she is in the good graces of the squad leader, Seymour. They both of them protect her from the predators in the army and those who still thinks she is a spy. Carmyne makes three necklaces that each has a different pendent. Sphalerite was given to Seymour, Spinel was given to Apollo and Carmyne kept Snowflake Obsidian for herself. They became their good luck charms in battle.

Kill or be killed; that was the phrase in her head for so many years and the three killed the enemies, together. They became so use to fighting that it was second nature. Seymour became relentless; he gave up his gun for a katana preferring to see the fear in their eyes as he brings death. Carmyne became restless; she barely slept at night and cuddled under Seymour or Apollo. Apollo became remorseful; towards the end of the war Apollo would only fight if his life was in danger. Seymour killed anyone he didn’t trust which are those who didn’t have his bloodlust.   He attempts to kill Apollo but Carmyne stops him and tells him that she is leaving with him when the war is over.

Carmyne tells Kenjin that Zane’s father is Seymour and Kalani’s father is Apollo and that both are now dead. He asks her if she has an idea of where the children could be but she has no clue. The syndicate has control over many businesses and territories and that they could be anywhere. He suggests that she just helps him with his cases and prays they find information on her children.

Sequence: "Giving up the Gun"- Vampire Weekend

Carmyne leads the squad of men through the jungle. She teaches Apollo about the different plants that grow here, warning him that it is hard to distinguish poisonous ones from non-harmful ones. Monkeys throw rocks at them, snakes circle their squad in the treetops and jaguars pounce at them. As they cross through waters they fight off piranhas. In all this, the enemies blend in with the environment and attacks with spears and curved swords. Seymour protects Carmyne from a shower of arrows with his katana in one hand and her halberd in the other. Apollo used his bow and arrow to catch them some food when they finally have time to rest. Around the campfire in a clearing of jungle, Apollo makes music with his Congo drum as Seymour and Carmyne dance to the beat. They lay under a huge blanket that keeps the wet jungle from soaking them as they sleep.
