The Dream- Never Ends

The Dream- Never Ends

A Story by Jasmine S. Edwards
"

Still my favorite anime after all these years :)

"
The day I died is the day the dream began.
I dreamed of freedom and a life of wild adventures.
I dreamed of seeing a shooting star, to let me know my life began.
I dreamed of  new life apart from my past, a past I vision through my right eye.

The dream lead me to many worlds.
The dream lead me to new friends and new enemies.
A bounty hunter who lived for no one but myself and yet my life is held by others.
I still think about my past apart from my dream, a dream I vision through my left eye.

In this dream a nightmare intrudes.
The dream I was playing out was nothing but a reflection of my past.
Constantly searching for a taste of real life, hunting down those who didn't want to be found.
Not meaning to cause bloodshed the demon of blood-lust followed me, showing its ugly face in those around me.

When this surreal dream and nightmare of the past crossed paths there was no turning back.
This was a dream- a nightmare I still haven't awaken from...even in death.

Before my death all I wanted to do was to run away with you...but you never came.
Now you've returned and want to live out our dream, but not here...not in this dream.
And as for him, I could never be free in a world he would control.
With him in power, I would be hunted down and driven to death again.

Bang.

The day I lived is the day that dream ended.
A bright blue star lost its shine and its place in this world.
As I awake in another dream, my left eye is alive but my right eye still sees the dream.
I will carry that weight in this life...in this dream.

Life is just a dream that is never ending.
I'm ascending.

This was a poem both beautiful and tragic. perhaps it is because I am a fantasy writer and because of an incident in store for one of my characters but I imagined a character being tracked down and mutually wounded and imagining all this in their final moments of life

I really like this poem. To dream is a beautiful thing and there is a sense of longing that draws me in. Great story :)
