Leaves falling from a dying tree

Leaves falling from a dying tree

A Poem by Sherbs Dreaming Tree Of Poetry

As the leaves crisp

And the green slips away

The sharp wind creeps in

Crawling up the backs of the feeble and the weak

Breaking their backs through the summer

To feed their families

Through blistering heat

And droughts of a necessary evil

They now feel the chill set in their bones

The fields will be crippled soon

Now is the time to work

To work through the cold

Until they drop down to the dirt

Like leaves from a dying tree

Reminds me of the scene from the Monty Python film The Meaning Of Life where the leaves fall as a way of giving up. Your poem shows not everything can be for ever and eventually everything must fall.
