Power of oppression

Power of oppression

A Poem by Sherbs Dreaming Tree Of Poetry
"

My tribute to WC

"

This reigning terror

Terror that is for

Those with a distinguished taste

A taste as vile as venom

The people despise it

But all shall bear it

No!

I claim the throne of individuality

This throne

Of psycadelic funk

And i look over my oppressed kingdom

I see the pain

The sorrow

Oh, the agony!

Why can I not change this!?

Because

We must unite!

Brothers and sisters

Worshippers of the arts

Of poetry and song

And freedom of speech

You are the kings and queens

Of all!

We can take the world

For the pen is mightier than the sword

And we are the weilders of the pen!

We must take away the oppression

And free the world

And unleash the arts!

Another great write from you. This was quite a powerful piece. I got your passion for the theme through your use of short, explosive lines and frequent punctuation. I also liked the kind of almost rhyming in certain place, like a hint at a rhyme scheme, which wasn't overwhelming, yet added a rhythm that made this pice that much more enjoyable to read.

"Why can I not change this!?" I liked that this was isolated into a single line stanza. It really brought out the importance of the question and led well into the kind of solution you outlined in the following stanzas.

"psycadelic" Should be "psychedelic"

Oppression can be a touchy subject, but I like that your solution was also your meduim of talking about it. By using your writing to bring the problem into the light, you are proving the very point you made in the actual text of the poem: that through our art, we can change people's views and bring about a revolution. The pen is indeed mightier than the sword. I especially liked that ending line. "Unleash" was a great verb to use, as though we were unleashing a secret weapon, and an unbeatable one. (Is that a word, "unbeatable"?)

Another great write. Thank you for the RR and keep them coming, my friend.

I love this poem! I was going to pick a favorite line, but there are about 10 of them so there really is no point. The whole thing is just wonderful! I love all the images in this poem, they are so great! I really like this poem.

I agree with your words. Here on this site. Many writers from the four corners of the world. Each wanting a better world. I was a Soldier for 15 years. I traveled to every continent. I had a smile and a handshake. I never met a man I wanted to kill or wanted to kill me. We are led by liars who create ghosts and demons so the contractors of war are getting richer. A lot of people make money off war. No profit in peace. As long as we have lobbyist paying off our leaders. World is on the wrong course. We need a day of stoppage. Where all people stop and show their support for peace. Will need 4 billion people wanting peace. I believe it is possible. A excellent poem. Hopeful and strong.
