Down The Rabbit Hole

Part 2

After we had gotten all the information out of her, Dr. Sars tranquilized her and had Dad and Stringum put her to bed. It was nearly 2 am by the time we finally went to bed, we had been interrogating her for a little over two hours. Learning very little, other than the fact she didn’t start the fire nor participated in it. We had also learned that there was now a price on our heads. Or was a price on our heads considering everyone thinks we had died in the fire?

Stringum said we could use that to our advantage in capturing Mr. Tate friend Mr. Coldwell, who didn’t respond to our trap as we wanted, being a no show only sending his goons squad. We had no doubt that he would be at church tomorrow, putting forth his cadence to become the High Bishop now, since he believes he has enough supporters behind him and exposing Stringum and Mr. Tate as unworthy of their positions.

Normally we wouldn’t care, but that would throw several months and weeks away of work and we would be essentially starting over, which we couldn’t allow.  We wanted Mr. Tate bad, but with his friends interfering we needed to do something or we would be jeopardizing our main mission.

We needed more friends we need some help in creating the big show, we are talking monumental. Stringum had been all over the world he knew people, he said. “I have just the person in mind, they want a show stopper I’ll give them a show stopper. He could be here in a matter of hours. We will give them something they have never seen before with the right equipment in place they won’t know what hit them.” He laughed hysterically as he wished us all good night. Picked up the phone and told somebody to get him, Lance Burton. He closed the door and we left him in his world.

No one knew the guy and we were very curious to find out who Stringum was bring in that would help us. All I knew we were all tired, and it had been very long trying day, that when I hit the pillow I died and didn’t wake up until the sun was shining in my eyes staring at a very beautiful naked woman checking to see if she was showing yet, who happened to be my wife Rhoda. Man, I miss those days, I could kick myself so hard for turning that life away, I could have had it all, but I chose not too take it and let it slip through my fingers.

I felt bad that very few knew about my real life back then. Not that they would believe me because parts of it sound so fantastic, that when they look at me today seeing a tired broken down old man. How could I have done or lived such a life? They look at me and laugh Yea right. Good one, as if it was some sort of joke or I was a joke. Yet for me, it was the best part of my life. Was something’s…of the things I did, were wrong? Maybe so, but to me back then and even now, I question if it really wasn’t.

I smiled as I laid there watching her as she was humming in the mirror until she noticed me staring. She said. “Do you think I am fat?” I shook my head no telling her she looks absolutely gorgeous. She said. “Are you telling me that so because you’re my husband and knowing if you said I was you wouldn’t get to have sex tonight?” I shook my head and climbed out of bed and walked over to her; pulling her into my arms as I kissed her.

“I am telling you look absolutely gorgeous because it's true, plus the fact I am your husband and having sex with an absolutely gorgeous naked woman, has always been a dream of mine.”

Eli came out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in his mouth naked as the day he was born, said. “What about me as your husband?”

I said. “You look gorgeously naked too, and I wouldn’t trade any of you for the world.”

He said. “You are just saying that because it’s true.”  We both laughed as someone knocked on the door. Most people would quickly cover up, but being as most of us were nudists on this floor, we didn’t care.

I opened the door as Holly came into view, she looked at me and Eli then blinked then noticing our two wives. She said. “I wanted to come in and apologize, for my recent behavior, even though I still feel the way I do about black people. I willing to accept the fact the world is changing, and there is nothing I can do to change it. I either accept that fact or move to a deserted island.” She smiled at me and Eli said. “You both look good naked by the way.”

Eli said. “Thank you, I think so too,” slammed the door in her face. He said. “It’s too early for this crap. Now, where were we? Oh yes discussing how good I look naked. I for one think I rock this body.”

Jackie said. “You would, because you’re conceded, overbearing and you think everyone looks good naked.”

He smiled. “All true, but that’s why you love me.” We all laughed and felt good to laugh, something we hadn’t done in a long time.

We soon dressed in our Sunday clothes or at least I did since mine were all destroyed by the fire, and being winter Eli wore pants under his and instead slippers he wore dress shoes. Mom and Dad and my three brothers also wore Sunday clothes and so did the Walters family.

Randy missed a couple of price tags as his sister Candus quickly yanked them off as he smiled, “thanks, sis.”

Stringum was the last one to come down to the lobby as we were having a nice hot breakfast. He looked like he had been up all night, as he asked for lots of black coffee. Knowing it’s considered a big no, no in the LDS church. Yet not everyone inside the church doesn’t have some kind of vice, even Dad likes a good cup now and again. Plus the fact there was no way for me to ignore the fact coffee is now part of my life because of almost every American drinks it.

It was my job to drink it, so I could determine a good, cup verse a bad cup. I find it a little bitter to my taste, but it was something I just had to get used to by adding lots of sweetener and cream. Yet I liked the benefits of it because it really does perk you up in the morning.

Mom and Dad didn’t say anything as I asked for it, Dad did so because most everyone was drinking it. Mom asked for tea. Knowing also that some teas are also off limits according to the church, but being as she was die-hard herbalist she ignored it. Stringum was handed the Sunday paper that showed the fire on the front page telling everyone all were killed in the fire.

‘That according to Fire Marshall that it is believed it was caused by improper use of an untended fireplace or was deliberately set finding that doors outside the home and inside were padlocked during the time of the fire and finding traces of lighter fluid and empty bottles at the scene suggest that it could have been set by an arsonist.

‘That when the family inside went to bed it spread quickly, and the family was trapped inside. That it is still under investigation to who the arsonist is, some believe that arsonist. Could be Mr. Walters who was found earlier down at the local bar within minutes of the fire and then was then found dead soon after. Some say when he was told about the fire and his family was all killed he took his own life. Finding satanic symbols and memorabilia were he died to suggest he was involved with the satanic occult. Reports say he was seen leaving the house right before the house caught on fire that says he could have been the one who started it.

‘Yet not everyone was inside as first believed as the lone survivor of this horrible tragedy was his oldest daughter Holly Walters who claims was spending the night at friend’s house. Not one block away when she saw the smoke and fire from her friend’s window was found at the scene of the fire.

'Reports say that she has gone missing, which suggest foul play. That there is a reason to be believed she could be the arsonist that wittiness said was seen fleeing the scene of the crime within moments of the fire and arrived when it was nothing left for anyone to do with her family trapped inside.

‘Sources say when questioning her that she and her father were planning on leaving the following morning to visit relatives. Now she too is missing, and the house she said she was staying at has been found empty, and the family that lived there hasn’t been seen in weeks. This reporter believes that with the crime spree in the recent months here in Heber and Salt Lake City in regards to the Satanic Church. Ones got to wonder if this too is tied too it. If anyone knows anything regarding the whereabouts of Holly Walters or has any information that might help the police in finding the arsonist they are told call the hotline.’

Stringum said. “You got to love small towns where nothing stays a secret for long. It’s obvious that we have a spy and he is determined to make our lives a living hell. Two can play at that game. They want to know where Holly is I say we give them what they want. Its time we greet or public and put it out there who really started this mess. Now that we know that Holly is innocent and the people that are trying to frame her for this so she can take the fall.”

Mrs. Walters said. “I still can’t believe my husband did this, I knew he was unhappy and I knew he didn’t love me or our children.  He truly was a cruel man and honestly, I have no remorse that he is dead, but the ones reasonable need to be stopped. It could be days before we can get the insurance company to help with the costs, and I am grateful for your offer Mr. Stringum.

“Sad to say I don’t have anyone else my family can count on. We don’t have any real ties or connections to family, most have turned us away because of the church and the other because of my husband. We don’t have any money to relocate and all of our friends are in Heber. I really don’t like taking charity because it would be seen as a weakness, but what choice do I have, we have no home, we have nothing except the clothing on our back and even that was done to your generosity. I promise I will find a way I can pay you all back for your kindness.”

Stringum waved it way as if it was nothing, said. “We will worry about that later. I wouldn’t say your homeless but in transit, for now. Considering we have many options at the moment as we have talked about; so no need to worry about that just yet, today is a bright new day. I say we meet it head on and show those b******s that we won’t go down without of fight.”

Everyone agreed and we head home. The High Bishop had already left long before we did to prepare our arrival and so did his wife Dora the Holy Queen and Dr. Sars. It was just us, as we packed ourselves in four silver limos and one black one that Mr. Tate was riding in with a whole slew of honor guard some of ours and some of his, well all of them were ours, but we weren’t telling anyone.

Mrs. Walter rode in ours with Stringum as he went over the plan one last time before we arrived at the Satanic Church. Where photographers and news press was waiting outside. The bulbs flashed blinding us as the several onlookers gasped seeing that we were all very much alive. Our honor guard held them back across the barricade as Stringum and Mr. Tate answered questions; Stating that we wanted the people that started this to think that they had succeeded so they would lower their guard down.

Stringum said that Mr. Walters was the one who started the fire, but we have gained information that he wasn’t alone. That it is still under investigation that Holly Walters was believed to be the arsonist, but the truth be known she was being held captive by a member of the Satanic Church and was released once it was clear that her family had been killed so they would have an escape goat. She had given a statement to the police to who those people are, and the police are now in the process of locating them.

More information will be released after those people have been brought to justice he said. They also believe the house Holly was being held in. The family that lived there could have been killed and is a matter of time before we find their bodies. They stepped back as the honor guard cleared a path for us inside the old theater that has been converted into a church. That said The Holy Trinity the true church of God. Yet the truth was it was anything but. Once inside we were directly led to our seats.

The fact many of us weren’t wearing robes caused a slight disturbance. Then again it was understandable because of the house fire everything was destroyed, but it sure did cause tongues to wag seeing us still alive when the reports were we were all dead. It didn’t matter the fact that me or my adopted family weren’t in the paper. Everyone knew that we were inside that home during the time of the fire.

We could only assume like in small towns that nosy neighbors gossiped or the people responsible leaked that part out to the congregation. Either way, it was a surprise as whispers sounded like a bunch of hissing snakes. More so when Mr. Tate took his seat next to us with Dr. Sars and Stringum next to him as well as the Walters family seating in our section, surrounded by our honor guard. It was indeed going to be a very interesting day.
