Chapter 221-2
Helping Those In Need
Part 3
Once they had laid particleboard
down for a more stable walkway we worked quickly as we emptied the house. Kirk
came back as I was sitting inside a large tent that had been put up to use as a
temporary working room; while they set up a phone and a large table to work
from. They were just waiting for the power company and the gas company to tell
them that it was ok for them to knock it down. Mrs. Bradbury was busy
organizing hot meals and making sure everyone stayed warm.
Mr. Benson and Dad had donated warm clothing and tools they could use and
called one of the big box stores like Anderson Lumber to donate or sell at cost
all the lumber they could get their hands on. We already had a staging area for
cement so our construction workers could have access to it whenever they need
it.
Dad had also contacted Stringum and talked him into helping out with housing
for the families that needed them, which I am sure wasn’t hard, when he had
several empty trailers waiting for occupancy. He had also borrowed large lights
so they could work in the dark as they worked around the clock. It was like
major race as Bishop Bradbury punched the clock as the bulldozer knocked down Kirk's house in a matter of minutes and cleared away in an hour.
Everything seemed to move like a floating army of men as they emptied the other
four homes and moved them to the trailer park; Knocking them down one by one as
they were given the all clear. Stringum made one phone call according to Dad
telling him that Construction trailer was on its way so we have a better
working area than a simple tent. While the contractor meets with each of the
families drawing up a floor plan of their new house.
Mr. Vincent bought the land needed to make the houses bigger and less cramped,
as our banker friend signed on the dotted line with his magic pen as he worked
out a nice arrangement with occupants of the homes. With interests rate that
was less than 15 percent over the next thirty years. Leaving them the choice to
buy the home or take an offer that was more than fair then doubled it to
encourage them to sell the homes back to him. And they could use the money to
purchase another home, inside our big housing development. Or purchase one of
Stringum's trailers at cost; leaving them a nice nest egg.
Even though Bishop Earl and Stringum were rich they didn’t give anything away
for free. They didn’t have to pay for the building costs just the mortgage
payment that they currently had so everyone got what they wanted. Bishop
Bradbury wanted all the homes to be done within a month. Before the major snows
hit the mountains. He told the people that if they completed the work in time
they would have a large banquet and dance plus entertainment the likes they had
never seen.
It was nearly 7 and we still hadn’t seen nor heard anything from Mr. Tate. Or
anything from the satanic church except for Mr. Grays and the High Bishop and
few members that he could get them to help, but unlike the LDS Church, they
weren’t used to lending a hand or helping their neighbor or wanted to be
involved in a town-wide service project to help out someone in their community.
Yet the work had come to a standstill once all the houses had been knocked down
and the land they were sitting on was cleared. While we waited for them to
finalize the building plans and digging the sewer lines and plumbing lines,
plus the cement work for the foundation.
Not even in the best of temperatures would we be able to do more until the
cement dries, the ladies in the ward had organized a potluck dinner at the
church house for everyone that was willing to work giving up their Tuesday
night to help our ward members that needed our help so desperately.
I only wished I could have done more, but as Nate Carrion being physically
challenged or even my brother Jared. There was very little we could do, so we
got in the car and rode down to the church house letting our able bodies wait
on us hand and foot. Letting the men do all the work as Bishop Bradbury and
Bishop Earl put together a working schedule for everyone that could lend a
hand? Being a high school student really
sucked, when I wanted to pitch in, even more so when you couldn’t because you
could show anyone how capable you are without blowing your cover story.
Mom and Dad said it was a very busy day for them the moment their stores
opened, then it went down to barely busy because of the service project, but
they didn’t complain because that service project was exactly what this town
needed it needed to know that as a community that we care. Somehow my good deed
had already made it Mom and Dad as they were proud as punch.
Not too mention as kids came up too me and their parents thanking me for
helping them get the books they needed for their class. I told them I was just
doing my part because every student needed a good education and if it meant
having their own school book then so be it.
There was still no word from Mr. Tate as we went home taking Kirk's Mom and his
brother with me. Tony said Mr. Tate knew about the impromptu services project
but made no attempted to help. Which wasn’t all that surprising to me or the
fact that Kirk's three friends and their parents had refused to help? And we
were told… it was because they were told not to get involved by Mr. Tate himself.
I knew Kirk and his mother was worried about it because Mr. Tate was their idol
and they had worshiped the ground he walked on. Yet we questioned if he was
such a great guy then why didn’t he help them when they were freezing to death,
or starving to death and their house was falling apart around them? The only
thing I could think of is he really didn’t care, in the first place because he
wouldn’t get anything out of it.
Yet it hurt them that everyone in the ward was willing to help except for the
few that thought it was a waste of time, or they figured we had enough help as
it was. Yet thing was, they could have helped, you could have never have enough
help. The service project wasn’t about serving oneself. It was about serving
others as we had been taught. To us, they were missing a real opportunity to
pay it forward and feel the spirit of love and giving their hearts and souls a
lift.
Everyone contributed with selfless labor or giving some sort of donation, or
both it didn’t matter if you had it or not to give. The people that had the
means to help with the cost may have carried the heavy end, but the more that
didn’t have a lot still gave as they raised money for each of the families so
they could have new beginning with nice house and furnishings, plus they had
plenty of donated food so none of them would go hungry. It didn’t matter how
much they contributed none of it would go to waste.
Like I said there was very little what we could do because it would be hours
before the cement foundation would be dry enough to build on. We drove by it
one last time for the night as we saw the lights lighting up the entire block
that used be were their house set and few acres of trees and sagebrush. Now
there was nothing but lights and people working the cement with large heater
type blowers to help dry the cement in recorded time.
Dad said they were using a special kind of cement that they use during the cold
winter months that would allow them to work in a matter of a few hours. I took
his word for it, knowing I had seen the large buildings going up during the
winter months. On the sides of each of the pads, people were build frames to be
set in place the moment that cement was dry enough to work on.
It was nice to be home where it was comfortable and dry as Dad started a fire
in the fireplace to help heat up the house. Eli did the same to our room as the
girls kissed us telling us they would run us a nice hot bath. Kirk smiled at
them when they invited him to join us, including the Philip boys. He still
didn’t like the idea of being in the same house with us but he was willing to
make the effort after a very long talk with his Mom and the High Bishop and his
wife the Holy Queen.
Regarding that, it didn’t matter what god he believed in that neither of them
discriminates against people because of the color of their skin, or religion or
ethnic background. He had already apologized to them regarding his recent
behavior, he knew better to go back on his word regarding it. He swore an oath
to the High Bishop that he would respect them.
His Mom was walking on cloud nine because people she knew didn’t embarrass her
or her family because how bad their house was. Instead, they asked if they
could do anything to help and was more then happy to do it without degrading
her.
She would cry on their shoulders and they sometimes cry with her. She said she
felt loved for the very first time since she had moved here. She was thinking
of moving to another state because she believed nobody cared, even when she
lost her husband nobody paid her any attention. Then the moment they found out
she needed help they dropped everything and came… by the carloads to help.
Kirk was disappointed because he had believed that satanic church was better
than LDS church. But hardly anybody came to help, other then the High Bishop
and Judge Grayson even his two inquisitors the Kingston’s
helped, and the Holy Queen, as well as the new High Priests, came to help and
few members of the 9s. But not his mentor or his three bests friends Randy, Erik
and Mark. I didn’t want to say anything regarding those members that came to
help from the satanic church were in our back pocket had switched sides or were
plants to help take down that church and the ones like them.
With our wives back home, it meant he couldn’t sleep with me because I would be
sharing my bed with them and not him. He had a choice to sleep with the Philip
boys or on the couch, or he could sleep with Greg and Chad
in their room. He had decided after a long talk from his Mom, and the High
Bishop as well as the Holy Queen that he needed to make U-turn on how he felt
about black people, considering they came to help where his mentor and friends
didn’t. He told me they must have had a very good reason, but he didn’t sound
all that convincing. So he was a little bit melancholy or quiet as his mind
tried to wrap around it asking himself why.
He was a little bit nervous about bathing with all of us because he was shy
when it came to girls. He may have kissed our wives being as the first girls he
had ever kissed telling me there was a difference when he kissed me and them,
like a small spark that seemed a little more different. Yet he still admitted
that he really liked kissing both, I had told him the sex was just amazing as
kissing them.
I told him he wouldn’t need to worry about a condom when having sex with them
because they were pregnant and Eli said we could play all sorts of games that
we couldn’t have played before and new positions that would get his mind off
the advents of the day. So in a way, he was looking forward to it.
Mom was busy washing all their clothes and all their bedding and curtains. She
was already on the fourth load of dishes they were able to save from their
cabinet that hadn’t broken into a million pieces. Then once they were clean she
would repack them so they would be ready to be used once they moved into the
trailer. His Mom was still on the fence regarding selling her new home or
buying one of the cabins or the trailer they would be using. For now, she wanted
to wait because everything seemed too good to be true.
Mom said there was no rush, she liked having her and Kirk and his brother here.
Plus we had plenty of room that wouldn’t be inconvenient if she decided not to
use the trailer. She was considering it because she liked the idea of not
having to worry about finding a sitter for her son Darren; now that Kirk has
been offered a job at either one of our stores or working down at the
construction crew kitchen with the rest of us.
Kirk was on the fence in what job offer he would take, they all had the same
pay, but the one he was leaning towards was the one that gave him free food,
while the others didn’t have that benefit nor anywhere to grow except stocking
shelves or counter help. He was more concerned because his three best friends
were backing out of fulfilling their agreement of giving a full week of help,
stating that he was the one that made the bet not them.
He was ok with bathing when it came to just us boys, even with the two Philip
boys as he was questioning what they would taste like dipped in chocolate. It
was when the girls came in dropping their robes as he saw how beautiful they
were completely naked as he got an instant hard-on as they sat next to him as
he moaned as they took turns stroking him and kissing him. Then when Rhoda
straddled him placing him inside of her and placed his hands on her breasts and
rode him letting him bury his face in her breasts tasting them as she dripped
them spiced honey all over them as he begins to enjoy himself, finding out that
have sex with girls was twice as good as kissing them.
It was when his mother and my Mom came in that he started to freak out as they
dropped their robes, seeing him having sex. His Mom asking Eli if he wouldn’t
mind, as she straddled him; watching Mom making her way over to Greg as Jackie
made her way over to me until every girl in the tub was having sex. He soon
forgot all about them as Rhoda kept him busy until they were both panting hard.
Then it was Jackie’s turn to have him as Rhoda trade places with her so she
could have me. Mom and Kirk's Mom trade places with Greg and Eli. As Dad Mrs.
Vincent soon joined us as Mom made her way over to Dad and Mrs. Vincent made
her way over to Greg.
Once they were done they got up and left, Kirk's Mom called him asking him if he
wouldn’t mind helping her bathe Darren. Kirk sat there shaking his head and
said. “Mom, I can do it, why don’t you make us a snack than when we're done,
will come down to the living room.”
She said. “No, that won’t work son. You see I not only do I want to bathe Darren but
I also what to bathe you like I did when you were younger. I know you're a
little shy about me seeing you naked, but there no needed to be, I have been
bathing you since the day you were born. I want you to feel comfortable about
me seeing you boys naked like it used to be when we told each other everything.
Now we don’t and because of that, you been hiding something from me. I now know
what it is, but I rather you tell me, what that mark is on your wrists. I have
seen it before when I said goodbye to your father. I will not let that happen
to you or Darren.
“So either you come and talk too me or I will ask everyone here in this room to
leave. So we can talk openly where you can’t lie to me because you are naked
and I am naked you can see that I am not lying to you.” She got out and slipped
on her robe, Mom nodded to me and Greg. I got up to leave as he called his
mother back.
He said; “on one condition that Nate stays and his Mom and Dad.”
She said. “I can live with that, but may I ask why?”
He said. “Because unlike my three best friends I trust them, they have been
nothing but honest with me. I feel safe with them here.”
Mom and Dad agreed he said. “But the deals off if they won’t tell me everything
I want to know. Why no one but them will help us and when Mr. Tate should have
been and he has seen the state of our house was in many times. Yet it was them
that didn’t waste a single moment of fixing the problem. We didn’t ask for
help, yet they came, and my best friends didn’t when they should have been
Johnny on the spot.
“They refused me; they wouldn’t even open the door when I asked them to help as
they shut it in my face. Telling me we were no longer friends after we had been
friends since middle school. We were blood brothers Mom and they told me to go
away, that they didn’t want to be associated with me because I had made friends
with Nate and his friends.”
Everyone left except Mom and Dad and me, as she went to grab Darren. Dad said.
“Kirk I’ll be honest when I say you won’t like some of those answers you want.
Because the only way I am going to tell you anything is if you swear a sacred
oath knowing that if we tell you and you tell others about this. You will be
putting your life and your mother’s life and your brother’s life in danger. Not
only them but everyone here, so think really hard about it, because I am dead
serious that you will not like what you will hear.”
Kirk said. “My life is already in danger sir, trust me. It doesn’t matter anymore
which side I pick, but I am betting that your side will protect me and my Mom
and my brother. I know Nate even after two days and most of his friends would
give their lives to protect their family and friends.
“My friends also swore that same oath, but today they shut the door on in my
face a spit on me. Calling me a traitor because I wouldn’t turn you away, the
moment you offered to help my Mom and us. That house was coming apart around us
today, we would be on the streets, with nowhere to go. Yet you were the only
ones willing to take us in when my best friends wouldn’t, my mentor Mr. Tate
was not to be seen.
“The High Bishop and our Holy Queen as well as our New High Priestess, not to
mention some of the holy 9s of our church that has recently been called, while
the others have decided we weren’t worth the time. Tonight was a big night for
many of them and they still came even though they should have been worshiping
and seeking guidance from our true God. Who right now I am questioning if he is
giving me mixed signals, considering some of his most loyal subjects were
willing to help, while others have refused too.
“Yet nearly our entire LDS ward was there helping us all when the other church
looked on and didn’t lift a finger. Because they didn’t dare, or they were
embarrassed by us because we were lower than dirt compared to them. Again where
was Mr. Tate? The one who said he would be there for us when we needed him the
most. I didn’t see him there, no one did. So I am picking a side going with my
gut feeling that I am making the right choice. It feels right, and for the
first time it really feels like I belong.”
