Fitting In

Part 1

It was late when we finally turned in now that we had all had gotten acquainted. The worst part of going too school was having to get up early, we all groaned when my alarm clock went off at 6:30 am. When it had seemed we had barely closed our eyes, but that was the price we paid for going to bed late. Mom and Mrs. Vincent already had breakfast waiting by the time we had all showered and dressed for school, placing our brand new school backpacks at the door and our sneakers. Plus another backpack with our work clothes inside it.

I hated the idea that I still had to play the injured weak boy, even Jared wasn’t all that excited about it, but at least it was temporary compared to the role that Tony had to play as our live-in best friend, that Mom and Dad had taken in because his parents were killed in the auto accident that left us all paralyzed. Tony had a bigger role to play as he put on his makeup disguise, so when he played the role of our bodyguard nobody would recognize him.

Jenny looked exactly like a teenager that was hoping to get on the cheerleader squad so she and could scope out the girls that were part of the satanic church. Like Eli and I wouldn’t hide the fact we were married. Seeing the large folder that Dad was going through making sure he had everything like our marriage licenses, fake birth certificates, and Social Security numbers, that were tied to our real ones, but listed under the witness protection program, so if anyone ran them they wouldn’t get suspicious. Dad made sure he had his new driver license that had his Carrion name on it.

Even my learner’s permit had been doctored with my Carrion name. Dad was keeping his promise to me that I would be signed up to take Drivers Ed during this quarter, at least the book and classroom part. I wouldn’t take the driving part until the next term which would begin in January; where us boys would have to take the driving course in Salt Lake City since they don’t have a driving range here. Dad had counted my winnings from last night that equaled closes to 10 grand.

We would use it as my personal slush fund here so we wouldn’t have to rely on anyone. I divided it between the five us considering we are all married to each other. Today we would use some of it to pay our school fees and books. Plus Letterman's jackets for all of us, even though I wouldn’t be playing any sports until we were sure that Jared and I had been given enough time to properly heal which we had calculated that it would take a least a month before we could ditch the wheelchairs for good as our cover story.

Tony, however, would remain paralyzed. Then once everything was safely in place, he would move out entirely and become our honor guard, Jenny too would ditch her disguise so it would look like they had left the country. When in truth they had only had became our honor guards. Today was all about fitting in, as Nate Carrion.

Jenny checked to make sure we had everything, including a makeup kit for the girls and fresh clothes and even though it was flashy we wanted to make a good impression as we took the limo to school so everyone could see that we were rich. Tony said it would be better once they had really gotten to know us, and losing the rep that we were snobs and we looked down on people that didn’t have money. After lasts night when we had dropped off Kirk and his three friends. He had an idea that would help with that, which was help the families that needed help, fixing up their homes and giving them better jobs.

Dad liked the idea, wishing he had thought of that first. I came up with the idea of a contest that would give the ones worst off a chance to win a brand new house in Stringum’s housing development. Tony said that he was sure Stringum would be more then happy about the idea if we made so he got something out of it. Knowing he never gives anything away for free. Like having a raffle auctioning off items to some big event we could put together like the big Halloween party. Dad said there were lots of things we could do around here to help our neighbors out.

Tony agreed, but for now, we had enough on our plate. Bishop Earl stated that with all our shops opening this week we could use the raffle idea to drum up some businesses, he said he could make a quick flyer for each of our stores and put in the sample bags by the time we would be having lunch and they could take them home to their parents. Then he when the kids come home from school they can scatter the flyers all over Heber, announcing the raffle and a list of prizes that they can raffle off.

Everyone one thought it was a great idea because for us those stores were our bread and butter. We needed them to help pay our bills. Mr. Vincent said he would go down to the local paper and put together a coupon package for each of our business so everyone would be encouraged to buy from us. He would also do the same to the smaller towns around us.

Everything sound fun and exciting, but for me and Jared we were pretty much stuck in injured mode until we could participate. Dad said that Coach Brady would help us by having us work on muscle strength in front of the other students like physical therapy. So the student’s could see how fast we were progressing so we could ditch the wheelchairs entirely quicker.

So it would like we were injured but were coming back strong instead of announcing to the world look at me I was in a wheelchair for a few hours and poof I was instantly healed. Which would be the worst thing we could do to our cover story, not only for us but everyone that was helping us take down the bad guys; He told Jared and Jason that like me they wanted us to bring our friends home, so they can get to know us as the Carrions. Not someone that is snobbish and looked down on people.

Jared cringed when Dad said when we did have friends over we still had to keep to our cover story until we could state within a months time we were healed. Stating we didn’t have a month to waste without making some sort of progress inside the satanic church. We needed to move more quickly before they had too much breathing room and move on. Even if meant we had to do things we didn’t like, like visiting other members and participate. Plus he was lifting the restrictions of spending the night at their friend’s house on a school night to help speed everything along.

Mom and Dad had already discussed what we talked about last night. Jared was fine about it; Jason wasn’t, mostly because he didn’t want Jonathon to get involved because he was only 4. Mom stated he wasn’t going to be involved in that way, because it was her understanding that they don’t involve boys under 5, until their fifth birthday when they are put through the preparing ritual. Once he understood that he made Mom and Dad promise that would never happen. Eli also promised he wouldn’t let anybody near Jonathon until he was certain that would never happen.

I too promised that which held more weight then Mom and Dad or Eli. He trusted me a lot more because I was the one that stopped Shawn and Arthur as well as their friends from rapping them over and over. I cringed inside because in a way I had broken that promise because like me Jason and Jared were still being rapped over and over again. It didn’t matter to me that we were only doing it so we could remain alive and take the bad guys down. I saw the hurt in Mom and Dads eyes that Jason and Jonathon trusted my word over theirs. There was nothing I could about it considered they had refused to listen to me or them the first time it happened.

Mom and Dad got into the limo with us all, letting Mr. Vincent take Jason to school with his boys and Jake's brother Billy and Earls two small children Timothy and Samantha, who had already been registered and had been going to school the moment they arrived, because unlike us they didn’t have the block schedule. He would also drop off Jonathon at preschool and pick him up around noon.

The roads were clear even though it snowed the night before, but Mr. West made sure that our main roads were cleared first before the ones in town so we could get around and Stringum’s big construction crew. Sparky barked at me as I left him outside tied to his chain so he could do his dogie business. Knowing that Mrs. Vincent would bring him in when he was done. It always seemed I was leaving him, and knowing he doesn’t understand why that was, but then again he was twice as spoiled as any dog here having a playmate to keep him occupied while I was gone.

He was better off here then he would have been at my mother’s house knowing how my father felt about me having a pet of any kind. So far he tolerated my mother's new dog, only because it wasn’t mine but hers. Yet even she had restrictions placed on her that if she wasn’t home by the time he came home, the dog would be gone. She had stated that he hated the idea that I had given it to her. It would have been better if she had gotten it herself, but we both knew that most likely would have never happened the way my father felt about having pets of any kind in the house.

The girls were waiting for us at the main entrances of the school as our limo pulled up to the curb. Letting or driver Landon helps with our wheelchairs. He too couldn’t wait until we wouldn’t need them anymore, mostly because it was like putting together jigsaw puzzle each time we used the fancy electronic ones. Again we could have used the other ones to get around, but Stringum paid a lot of money for these not to be used. Once we handed off the girls things so they could change, we headed off to the main office so we could get registered and pick up our class schedules.

The school was busy with everyone in the hallways as we listened to them that we were the one living in those big expensive cabins and our own personal limo. I could only imagine how it looked as we all walked in a large group to the main office. Normally we would have registered for all our classes at the beginning of the school year. Yet it wasn’t uncommon for new students to move from school to school which I had a lot of experience of doing.

We were let in personally by the principle, which stated he only did so because we were rich and unlike other students. He shook each of our hands one by one then asked if we all like a soda or some hot chocolate, again stating we were special. I knew the moment he shook my hand that he was trouble, as he noticed our tattoos just above our wrists, as he quickly gave off that scent of rotting corpses. It shouldn’t have surprised me, knowing that there were over 3 or 4 hundred members here in Heber that were part of the satanic church. It just meant we couldn’t trust him.

The girls quickly caught up to us, as we noticed he didn’t bother opening the door for them until he realized that they were our wives. Then he apologized to them stating he had forgotten that we were married. Again it wasn’t as common to find 16-year-olds married here inside the satanic church, compared to other places like private schools and small towns that didn’t have large congregations of Catholics and LDS members on every corner. Heber County was bigger then Santaquin and Payson, plus only being 45 minutes from Salt Lake City with small border towns that all went too High School here, which made it harder to take down the bad guys because we had more area to cover.

The only good thing about having a principle that was a member of the satanic church was we didn’t have to explain our strange marriage situation. Even he suggested that we didn’t mention the fact Eli and I were married to each other and that included Greg and or wives. That when we are introduced that we should say. We married to each of the girls, but Dad shot him down stating he wanted people to know that we weren’t gay if we kissed. That we could say it was an old tradition from his side of the family that still believed in plural marriage, based off the F-LDS.

He steepled his fingers and decided he liked the idea because of it through suspicion off their true church. In fact, it paved the way for the church that others like ourselves would be more inclined to do so, instead of hiding it from the world and allowing us to come out into the open. Dad said it was our Holy Queens idea that she wanted younger members brought in so we could flourish and reach our main goal of total world domination. Dad playing the power card, knowing he would take the bait once he introduced himself as member of the 9s magistrates making him a 4th class member.

Someone they needed to take out sooner than later because he was a mover and a shaker that could make a difference in how the church functions. I had taken his picture once he had given his title, So we could add to our list of people that needed to be dealt with. We didn’t care about anything else he said. Other than making it clear we were on his side and that we could both benefit in climbing the ranks quickly.

He said passing off the latest news asking us how we felt about the new High Priestess being black and how he has heard that Chef Phillips boys have been seen congregating with us.  Dad said. “You do realize sir that you’re talking about the Holy Queens decision? Who has stated our true God has chosen her to be our High Priestess that our God doesn’t discriminate just because of the color of their skin or origin? Not to mention she is also Mr. Stringum’s wife who is also one of our main benefactors that have given size able donations to our church.”

He growled angrily. “I realize that, but not even the LDS Church or the Catholic Church allows Niger’s to hold high positions in their churches they consider them like us as filthy animals.”

Dad stood up said. “Their God is not our God, of course, they would feel that way. If they didn’t they would be worshiping and accepting our true God and his savor Mormo blessed be his name.”

Everyone repeated the mantra. Dad said taking a seat back. “I support our Holy Queens decision, knowing that it came from our true God Lucifer. I am beginning to question if you sir think that our Holy Queen is not chosen by our true God, and if that is the cases, sir. I am more than happy to inform the high council that you sir feel that our Queen and our Holy Prophets are wrong and delusional.”

I watched the principals face pale as he quickly changed his tune by stating. “No, I am just asking how you feel about it, to see if you are truly loyal to our causes. I have been told that you and your friends are not as loyal to our cause, considering we haven’t seen you supporting our members that are in desperate need.”

Dad said. “Then perhaps you should realize that we haven’t been here more then a couple of months. Plus the fact none of you have even tried, or bothered to visit with us until last night. But only because my son Nate here was challenged, by one of your younger members for his title; stating he hadn’t earned it because he is considered weak and in a wheelchair. If it wasn’t for our Holy Queen healing our son after learning that doctors have done as much as they can do, which would leave him in that wheelchair, and now is getting stronger every day that within a months time he and his brother John (Jared) will no longer need them.

“She did it as a favor to him because he and his husband Eli was a big part of helping her remove the fallen Queen with the help of our true God bestowing on him the power and the strength he needed to help in our world while he remains in prison to remove the fallen Queen.

“Who has betrayed us all and has been punished for her crimes as a liar, a trader to our people and to our God. If you were there you would have seen and felt his power as he healed our boy and proving to us that she has been chosen by him to succeed our fallen Queen. Again I am questioning your loyalty because so far sir you have not only insulted me, our God, and our Holy Queen, most of all my son Nate. Stating he hasn’t been given the right to be healed by our God. Or the fact he had won the match fair and square in public match defending his title according to the rules of engagement.

“If this is the case I will ask the council to ask for your resignation and you sir can join our fallen Queen where our God is seeking her punishment for disobeying him. I am sure we can find a better replacement for your seat. I am not, nor is my family going to sit here and be insulted further. I will return home and seek council with the council if you continue to insult us further.”

Dad nodded as we all stood to leave. The principal quickly apologized and said. “Please forgive my rudeness, like I have said we don’t know you well enough other than by rumors. Which I intend to put a stop to, I apologize again to you and your son. I only wish I could have seen the match, that everyone is talking about, and haven’t witnessed the healing, being as I was out of town trying to locate some funds for our much-needed library.”

Dad said pulling out his checkbook said. “Perhaps I can be of assistance, I firmly believe in educating our children. If only we would have known I would have helped sooner.” Dad placed the check in front of him that read 50 thousand dollars; I knew that money came out of our slush fund as the principal smiled seeing it. Bishop Earl handed him another check for another 50 thousand. I could see the dollar signs in his eyes as he took the checks and placed them in his shirt pocket.

Dad said. “Because it is school donation I would like a receipt for tax purposes. But if you can make certain those rumors about us are stopped.” Dad handed him a large stuffed envelope and said. “For your trouble, I would give more. But I do not take kindly to insults, nor do I believe in bribes.

“I have been burned before by people that have taken advantage of our kindness, then spit in our face calling us snobs and hypocrites, and after how I and our family and our friends were treated last night at the church social. I question their loyalty to our God who states we should love and respect each other regardless of the skin.” The principal quickly wrote out a receipt for him and Bishop Earl. And apologized again stating he will make a note of it and find out why we so unjustly treated.

Dad nodded. “Then we will conclude our business today so our children can get an education.”
