Run

Run

A Poem by Shelly Braen

The sun splits the horizon in a fiery brilliance

We raise the alarm and away we run

We are running against time

Against fate, and against it all

Searching for answers, and hope

The prodigousness of our lives hangs with the stars

who secretly spy on us in the daylight beyond the blue

A gust of wind sends us east

Far and away we go

Pack your things

Don’t look back

Leaving pillars of salt behind

We rise to the occasion

Shoot an arrow to the heavens

To mark our path

Send a feather north

To set our comrades forth

Drops of gold light

Drink up and don’t ask for more

It is all you’ll ever need

Eyes to the front

Sure, strong, and true

A hundred hearts beat as one

Too loud for the world to ignore

To set our comrades forth"

This poem has very nice word craft all the way through with brilliant symbolism.
