Vignette 1 of 10: Captain

Vignette 1 of 10: Captain

A Story by Jason Grey

A large suntanned man, wading through an undercurrent of grey dockworkers makes his way to the edge of the dock. His silver spyglass sashed across his bare chest bounces wildly as hunched workers collide against his massive arms. His shoes, once thick leather, are now thin enough for him to feel the grain of wood under his feet. Straight brown pants tied with simple leather add an air of practicality. A shock of auburn hair, similarly tied at the back of his head, drifts down between broad, limber, shoulder blades. Those shoulder blades, rising ever so slightly, part the ocean of workers as he tries to reach his ship.

nice character study. sounds like a big, commanding, tough talking jerk. just the kind of person you want as a captain.
