Feast of the Fire Gods

Feast of the Fire Gods

A Poem by Jason Grey
"

Who would have known?

"

Red walls
Adorned with
Scarlet curtains,
Smolder

Bright embers
Blaze atop
Grand chandeliers.

A scorched table
Outlined in candles,
Serves as the centerpiece.

Fiery invitations
Wrapped in crimson
Have called this odd assembly.

But,
The seats are bare.
The candles, drooped,
The food, uneaten, and
The curtains, only silver tails of smoke.

How was I to know
That the gods of fire
Dislike a flame.

I am an insomniac ergo this was written at three in the morning after reading roman mythology... just something to think about.
