Kamikaze

Kamikaze

A Poem by Jason Grey
"

A Kamikaze pilot having second thoughts.

"

No second thoughts, ever.”

That’s what I was told

Before I sat in this cockpit.

No regrets, and no looking back.”

Is what I told myself.

But traveling across the world has given

Me time to think.

Time to think all the dangerous thoughts,

Like “why?

And “for what?”

For Honor

And Pride

We die

Our arrival is

Anticlimactic

No barrage of bullets

No shells to dodge

Just my explosive

Passengers

And I

This would not be

A beautiful death

But a lonely one

It’s too late

To turn back now

Watching my final target

Grow closer

I speed up,

Grip the throttle,

And close my eyes

Wow, straight between the eyes, right into the core.. great throbbing lines that reach a brilliant conclusion.

' This would not be / A beautiful death /But a lonely one '- sums up the title in a handful of words.

Will be back to read more of your work.. if it's all like this, i'll sing out loud!
