The Show

The Show

A Poem by Shelby
"

How we all feel sometimes.

"

Actors, lights, and staging

The operatic storm is raging

Our lives, they may be waning

But still we go on singing.

The love story is only story

Real life will leave you sorry

Our stage is just our cover

When we’ve given up our lover

To the moon’s dreary shining.

Curtains on the scene

Spotlights keep from being seen

The audience sees the play

And cannot see the day.

Inside my heart is gone

And so the show goes on.

Oh my, the conclusion is truly the best part of the poem. The way you made the "Inside my heart is gone" a smaller font than the rest of the poem was genius, it makes me feel as if the character were whispering sadly, though that may or may not have been your intention.
A true writer knows how to make the impact of the poem/story/book blow the reader's mind, and you certainly have mastered that art in this poem. The reset of the poem was well, but the best part (as I've said) was certainly the conclusion. It is so emotional and makes the poem worthwhile and gives you an insight to the heart of this character.
Bravo!

I liked it. :) No matter the circumstance, the show must go on! It lost it's flow a little bit when you wrote:

"When we've given up our lover
To the moon's dreary shining.
Curtains on the scene"

But the meaning behind your words still held strong so I didn't lose focus nor interest. You also had great word choice which helped bring the images through my mind.
