Shyness OvercomeA Poem by ShelbyYou think I'm shy You think I'm quiet On my own word diet But baby it's impossible To understand my mind So I try to leave it behind I have too much to say If on;y I were able Stuck inside my made up label My common breakfast table fable So I just sit back and listen To your incessant chatter As your opinions just get fatter As your words fall pitter patter Against my silent open lips My head nodding unimpressed My ears closed to the rest Of the best of your vocal rat's nest Hoping that I will confess But instead inside my sated head I simply have a false illusion My mind's suicide contusion And one day it will burst forth Pouring out my every heavy thought Tha's ever rot amongst the knot I've never spoken, never broken Never revealed for your token But my shyness will be defeated Overcome at last. © 2011 Shelby |
