My Broken Love

My Broken Love

A Poem by Shelby

You came up behind me

Your shoes moving

So quietly

I didn’t hear you

But I knew

Somehow that you were there

Your reflection

Made your intention

Bare

And I pretended

I couldn’t see your face

You put your arms around me

My heart spinning in place

Smiling at our mirror

Our image smiled back

You drew me nearer

And I felt myself relax

My darling

How I love your fingers

Running through my hair

Your scent still lingers

And your breath I still will share

For whatever comes

Whatever feeling numbs

My love, I will not forget,

Nor will I free you from my net,

I will remember

How I wanted us

To touch

How I wanted it so much

My broken love.

this one leaves me sad..and the title is just perfect for this piece..

i think you left for a moment and wandered after the first few lines......wishing to be held, but only being held in your mind......as well as.....the mirror reflects what will be, the shoes, probably had nothing to do with any of it.......but its funny you knew they where there. sometimes it only takes a milisecond to see a whole lifetime in the eyes of the one you love......

Though you didn't have a rhyme scheme, you kept the rhythm even. The switches between rhyme and free verse were done well, and I enjoyed reading this. Well done

Aww, this is so bittersweet. Excellent piece of writing.

"You put your arms around me
My heart spinning in place
Smiling at our mirror
Our image smiled back."

Really beautiful :')

Take care,

Sofea
