The Hospital Visit

The Hospital Visit

A Poem by Shelby
"

It's a b***h losing people.

"

There was a time

When we were young

When we thought

We’d live forever

Never knowing

We were wrong

Never seeing the

Path you were on

And I had to watch

As you slowly died

Hiding my sorrow

You didn’t see how

I concealed how

I cried

And how I held

It all inside

You didn’t hear me

Say my farewell

I couldn’t bear

To see you that way

So, all alone

I bore my hell

I wasn’t given

The chance to tell

You goodbye because

I chose to stay away

This, my betrayal

Forevermore regret

I held my love

For you at bay

And now I am

Forced to say

I love you

To empty air.

Powerful final lines. I like the double lines in the last stanza. Duality, baby, you know what that means. Good job yet again.
