Strum

Strum

A Poem by Shelby

Strum

Callused fingers

And make music

That guitar sound

Makes my heart

Soar, burst,

Sing along in love

And ecstasy.

Say goodbye textbooks

Formulas

Reason

For my soul belongs to

The pianos, the drums

The harmonica and the sitar

But to the guitar most of all.

So strum

And my body will beat along

The A chord

Then G7

Or F

But Am will always

Be my beloved

Followed by Dm

I'll play you a melody

Fast and raging

Slow and sweet,

Strum me, darling

Like my guitar

And be my major

My minor

My diminished

The rhythm I play each day

And I'll sing you my song.
