Cleanse Me

 

Have mercy upon me, O God

And cleanse me from my sin

Wash away my iniquity

Renew a right spirit within

I acknowledge my transgressions

My sin is ever before me

Against thee have I sinned

My eyes are open, in which I may see

Purge me with hissop

I shall be whiter than snow

Make me to hear joy and gladness

So I may continue to grow

Create in me a clean heart

Deliver me from bloodguiltiness

And my tongue shall sing aloud

Of thy God righteouness

I've read quite a few of your pieces and this one is by far the best. Not just because I am a Christian and love the new songs taken from God's Word. Psalms 51 is the quote of every born again believer. It sings to us, as you have expressed, of our relationship before a holy God. Your poetry are the words that God expresses in each of us who know Him. I also like the way you researched, from a personal level, another way to retell the personal majesty expressed therein, A talent that bespeaks a work of love. Thank you
