Apology

Apology

A Poem by Sheila Marie Carr
"

Forgiveness of oneself is a powerful access to overcome trauma, torment and hate, in order to gain the power of self love!

"
I apologize to her…. ME!!
For all I allowed to go wrong
For not fighting
And standing up strong
For denying my ability
To to protect her
As I failed to love her
While going through life as a blur
For all the self hate
For the ugliest of shame
Of how I didn’t protect
And always took the blame
I apologize to myself
For the scars upon my heart
And the bruises in my soul
Like canvas painted art
I forgive her… ME!!
For being unprotected
And for allowing us
To be so blatantly disrespected
I forgave… who I was
For I am love, I am strong
I am powerful in awe
I am one who belong
I love and value
The woman I was meant to be
Cherishing everyday
With the joy of loving ME!

I love how this poem evolved and it felt good to read this afternoon. To know ourselves, to understand who we are and why we do what we do is b=not all that easy. But once we make the decision to love ourselves, to put ourselves first every once in a while, to realize that we are important and we are who we are. Wow, didn't mean to go off on a tangent like that but, your poem sent me there. Very nicely done.
