Nights Of Love

Nights Of Love

A Poem by L.G. Knight

We watched the sun set with no inhibitions

About what tomorrow would bring.

We clung to the knowledge that

Love was all conquering.

Nothing could ever phase us,

We would live to love again,

For the type of love that we shared

Would never seen an end.

We kissed with a passion

That few have ever known.

And if one of us was unhappy

The other couldn't let it go.

We never faced an issue

That could tear us apart.

And long after the sun set

We sat and watched the stars.

Voicing all our wishes

That had already come true,

The day that you met me

And I fell in love with you.

Nothing could seperate us,

No problem was too big of one.

We'd always find our solutuion

As we watched the dawn.

And as the dawn carried hope

We'd carry with us love.

I know you didn't leave it

As you went home above.

So I carry mine still

Taking it with me as I go,

And whether it will mix with another

I don't yet know.

But as I watch the sunset

And hear the last songs of the birds,

I am reminded of the love we shared

And what it was to be the way we were.

Absolutely beautiful! Hauntingly sad, and breathtaking. I especially loved the last stanza. Great writing!
