A Mothers Love

A Mothers Love

A Poem by L.G. Knight
"

Nothing is greater than a mother's love...

"

A Mothers Love

"I have a boo boo can you kiss it please?"
I hold up to you my scraped up knee.
And without a thought that maybe you won't
You lean over, kiss it, and I know
that it will get better.

I tried to run away tonight
I snuck carefully out
before I even made it
Half way out of town
I turned back.

Pre-teen angst has no power
against a mothers love.

I know you told me not to
But it was the biggest party of the year
So I went anyway
And drank too much beer
Who did I call?

You never told me
I told you so
You just held me as I cried
Never let me go
You love me anyway

Teenage Escapades can't fade
a mothers love.

I thought he loved me
really I did
I never thought
I'd have his kid
and he'd leave...

Even though you never liked him
you held me close as I cried for him
and helped me through it all without fail
all the way to baby's first wail....
You're a grandma.

A young adult always able to count
on her mothers love.

"I have a boo boo can you kiss it please?"
As he holds up to me his scraped up knee
and without even a thought that maybe I won't
I lean down to kiss it and I know
A mothers love.

Frances, as I have told you before I absolutely love this poem and I cannot believe you are just now sharing it! This piece is so warm and so touching. I believe it is one of the ones that originally made me fall in love with your work. Marvelous piece dear, everything about it is perfect. I love the journey and I love the love. Haha, great write girl!

Becoming a mother changes the perception of just how powerful a mother's love really is. I know from personal experience that my own understanding and appreciation of Mother grew after experiencing the feelings involved in having and raising my own child. Sharon
