ApprovalA Poem by L.G. KnightThis is just ramblings that needed to come off my chest and happen to come out in rhyme...I have spent my life looking for aproval, From family, friends, even strangers, There comes a time in every life, Where approval can actually mean danger.
A time when You become so consumed, In being what everyone else wants you to, That the person that you used to be, Is not at all like the new you.
When do you decide to say enough, That people must finally just accept, That you are only you, You can't be what everyone expects...
You're not perfect.
I have spent my life in search of blessings, A hint that I made someone smile, As I searched and severed up laughs, The true me waisted away all the while.
I can't take this skeleton of what once was, That is now my only truth, For as I strained to please them all, I Drained away my youth.
Now so young and yet feeling old, I finally take my stand, I will no longer serve your goals, Or follow your demands.
I'll find out who I am...
It's time to let it go, Let it reast in peace, I can't be what everyone wants, I can only be me.
But who is me?...
