Star Song

Star Song

A Poem by L.G. Knight

The Stars Sing a song

So beautiful and strong

I can't help but stop and listen

I hear it at night

While the world sleeps tight

And I sit and watch them glisten

They tell of love found and lost

The wars of the world and all of their costs

The melody is so sweet to my ears

The words are so plain

From refrain to refrain

And inevitable calm my fears

The moral is found

As the song floats to the ground

Battles are lost and battles are won

It's been this way

Since the first day

When the world and mankind first begun

Do not be discouraged

Or loose all your courage

If your battle was fought and lost

For Life is a war

There will be more

And no war is without it's costs

Life is not perfect

You can not expect

That it ever will truly be

But if you don't give in

You'll find in the end

The rewards will be so sweet

Another battle was lost

But that's part of the cost

I think as I listen to the stars

And let their sweet melody

Float down to me

And heal my battle scars

I agree with aries, very beautiful and wonderful flow. You also present some great imagery in this piece. It's very sweet and i absolutely love the message of taking rewards from God given nature, the things we most take for granted. Great write!
