Painting A Summer Day

Painting A Summer Day

A Poem by L.G. Knight

A garden filled with sapphire flowers

Where Fairies come out and play

Off to this magical land

I want to be swept away

I want to see the leprechauns

Search for their pots of gold

I would be happy to help them

While they tell stories never before told

To stroke the mane of a unicorn

Its hair so soft and fine

Has always been a fantasy

A Dream for such a long time

I want to ride on the back of a dragon

As we soar high in the sky

The wind whipping my hair

Around me as we fly

Maybe I could buy a seed like Jack

Something that I could plant

That would grow into a ladder

That I could climb to this land

Then I could play with the fairies

And paint the flowers blue

And if you don't laugh at me

Maybe you could come too

We'll walk the fields of green

Collecting four leaf clovers

Give them to the leprechauns

For luck till the search is over

Catch a lift on a passing dragon

So we can be on our way

To help the fairies paint

Another beautiful summer day

And whenever we return

It'll be our secret to share

And when we want to visit again

We'll plant a seed to get us there…

Oh wow Frances! I can't believe I haven't commented on this one yet. I know I have read it before and just now as i was reading it again I remembered having already read it but was hooked in after the second line, haha. I love this piece a lot, it's SO very warm, so warm. It just....the imagery makes my heart tingle, you really took me to that place with you, in this piece, I felt every bit of the adventure you spoke of. I love the jack and the bean stalk reference to help create the vision. Very nice touch. I could have sworn I had already commented on this as well...I think I did. Oh well, it's not there. Anyway, great job, very nice write :-)
