Fortune Cookie RomanceA Poem by L.G. KnightBased On a True StoryI bushed some paint upon my lips, Blush upon my cheeks I waited at the door for him A minute seemed like weeks. Nerves were like butterflies Fluttering in my belly And when the doorbell rang My knees went to jelly He took me to coffee first We sat and talked for hours He put my mind and nerves at ease With some hidden power We realized that we were hungry As the time grew late A Chinese restaurant right next door It must have been fate. The conversation went on Over Kung Pow and stir fry He looked into my eyes And my heart had to sigh A sigh of great relief I think he could be it A brief kiss over the table A tender touch of lips I didn't want the night to end This had been a perfect date So putting off leaving For the fortune cookies we'd wait I got a fortune cookie It said "Your move is next" He read his to me It said "This isn't done yet". We drove away in silence I scooted subtly closer As he kissed me goodnight He whispered "This is far from over" © 2008 L.G. KnightAuthor's Note
