Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by L.G. Knight

I waited for you in the rain

I waited in the snow

I waited in the Blistering Sun

From this spot I would not go

You promised me that you would come

So I waited here for Days

I would not leave for food or Water

I waited till I wasted away

My Hair Grew Long My Cheeks Got Hollow

I really was a sight

I never left to get a shower

I must have smelled a fright

I waited in this very spot

While I wasted away beneath my flesh

Until finally I was skin and bones

No Life in me Left

A breeze blew hard and dust did fly

As From all Sides I fell apart

Until finally I Screamed Loudly

And woke up with a start

I waited in that dream for you

But you never showed

My dream certainly taught me

An Important lesson though

Never wait for someone else

To come and prove your value

If they don't show just go about your day

Saying "I can do this without you!"
