Threads of Lies

Threads of Lies

A Poem by L.G. Knight

Sometimes I over analyze,
See myself through others eyes.
Sometimes I don't like what I see,
But it’s me gotta let it be.

Mistakes are made, lessons learned,
Make them again and ask to be burned.

I am who I am, take it or leave it.
Backstabbing BS? Man I don't need it.

I show myself true.
Not like you.

Lies and deceptions are not the plan,
I won't apologize for being who I am.

You see what you see, its not my fault.
I don't hide the true me, or lock her in a vault.

Feelings true and honest were built on Lies
Lies you wear like a disguise.

You hide who you are, but finally I see,
And turn away it's not for me.

Emotions flood behind a Gate,
Love so trued Layered with hate

My head is in turmoil I can't find the truth.
Am I so stuck on the love of my youth,
That I can't trust what offered to me,
I can't take the hand, held out so free?

Mistakes are made, lessons learned,
Can't take any chances of getting burned.
So I hide from the light and sit in the dark
It may not be right but I can't risk my heart.

You see now what you did to me,
With your lies and deceptions I didn't see?
I trust the bad, Mistrust the good,
Nothing seems to go as it should.

I can't bounce back like you expect of me,
I can't ease your guilt or set your conscience free.
That’s not my job, you see?

I was who I am, but am no longer who I was,
Who I was, was lost, Buried in disastrous Love.

So now I over analyze,
See others through a screen in my eyes
A screen you built with threads of lies.

Wow fran, this is definitely one of my favorite writes of yours. I love the power you always have with your words, you really know how to make the reader feel exactly what you felt through the experience of which your topic is. This is such a powerful piece and I absolutely love the journey presented in it, I love seeing the change happen in the author. My favorite stanza is,
"I was who I am, but am no longer who I was,
Who I was, was lost, Buried in disastrous Love."

This stanza just says so much and really shows the importance of holding on to yourself and always staying true to who you are; because if not you can easily lose yourself do to someone else's ways. Great write girl, love it, thanks for sharing!

Powerful words in this emotional poem. Sounds like you were burned in a big way. Good flow of thought and rhyme. Lydia

Reading this poem, the strongest emotion that leaps out to me, is betrayal by a former lover. Like the way, that you show both sides and how it affects you. Know that i am guilty of overanalyzing things to death before taking action. Losing the chance to make a positive difference in my life. Thank you for sharing this poem.
