Puppet MasterA Poem by L.G. Knight
Puppet Master
You walked back into my life today,
Just like you had never left
All smiles and kind words,
Like you never left me bereft
What makes you think you have the right,
To show any interest or joy
When all you ever did,
Was treat me like your toy
Do you think we can start again,
And be friends once more
Well I have news for you mister,
There's more for you in store
I can't take these little mind games,
You seem to like to play
No sign or words for months,
Suddenly you've got something to say
What happened now to make you,
Take an interest again in me
Did the current Marianet,
Once again just up and leave
I can't take these little mind games,
You seem to like to play
Just when I'm getting over it,
You have something else to say
I can't take it anymore,
Not from you or anyone
So let me tell you this,
With these games I am done
I am done being the puppet,
Whose little strings you pull
I am done taking wisdom,
From the minds of fools
So let me alone and leave me be,
I don't want it anymore
Find another puppet,
in another toy store
My strings have broken,
My body doesn’t move in time
And all the advice I've taken,
Has corrupted my mind
I don't think I'm a puppet for you,
Like I was last year
I have no willingness to cooperate,
I have no more fear
I won't say what you want me to,
Shout it from the rafters
Last year I was the puppet,
This year I'm the master...
