BEHIND THE GLASS

BEHIND THE GLASS

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror
"

" a look through the glass still cold upon the cheek "

"

the surrender of wonder

cuts day to day

time's a fleeting frame

hammered to sway

foothold to a beam

a sheltered grand scheme

humanity abides the ease

against tattered seams

their hunger and thirst

push an evanescent stream

trick of a figment

captures the eye

crowns perfection

bows in the lie

the artist's misery

a constant chisel and brush

reflects a content

a never ending hunt

chasing hopes silhouette

begging beauty to forget

a conjured motion

inspires the air

command the winds

a power to share

render an impression

expands to a dream

they flicker a picture

as a phantom seen

a look through the glass

still cold upon the cheek

I like this one a lot, the whole identity that comes from mastering a craft is love from gratitude.

I love the way you use words to describe the feeling of looking at a toy shop through the glass. The last stanza is my favorite. Magic happens inside the viewer's mind. The eye captures the dreamy quality of the toys in the shop... and the wonder of playtime and imagination. However, a poor child can only look and put their cheek or hands against the glass.

a look through the glass
still cold upon the cheek

Thanks for sharing. Never stop writing!

we seem to want what we don't/can't have. it gives us a reason to hope, to dream. what is suggested has an allure. we think it will make us happy. better to look within than in a window with a price. brings back a lot of childhood memories - if i could only have that i'd be happy and all set, 'til something else comes along of course ... :)
