A LEADING MAN

A LEADING MAN

A Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerror
"

" the wicked path at our insistence "

"

the lonely plight

of a dissident man

a single lucent light Fueled bright in the night

flowing with pontification and foresight

a crowd it incites

this mass devoted to their leaders spite

the light of one

the spark of another

forming the glow

of a stagnant umbra

this path of no resistance

is the wicked path at our insistence

it Juggles through the past

navigates the lost

untwists the fray

it is the sound that will not settle

a growl of medal

a clink and a rattle

the sound of chain

that engraves a pain

a gun on your temple with a pulled trigger

the blood in you ears that is fear simple fear

a stab and a twist of a knife named redemption

the next stick leads to your suffocation

and now you understand how easily we shatter

our disappearance so final a matter

gods spell is knocking

loyal, dead and forgiving

the answer is a doorbell

unfeigned by heaven or hell

we abide times insight

waiting for a green light

a moment of enchantment

one final choice to exit

the one last chance

and were destined for happenstance

as the rattlesnake stance

warns and demands

ruling their charmer

into an alliance

the masses expand

for the malice at hand

arousing a jump in the fire

as the mob grows vulgar

alarming numbers

fall in shoulder to shoulder

follow the flock

a parade in sync

The fall of one

The march of another

Until we no longer struggle

The human condition. I wrote this after watching the news. I rarely watch TV let alone the news. When I want to remember the world is in trouble I can take a walk just outside to the nearest corner and view the downfall of western civilization. If you are still reading this thank you and God Bless

Profound and ominous write and images. So relevant and resonant. We are caged, bar-coded and conditioned for violence, a nasty, lethal mixture. Is it a bleak episode, or is it the end? Excellent, eloquent, impassioned poem.

This entire piece is truth - unvarnished yet eloquent, slightly vague but no mistaking who:

I. Loved. This.

Truest words: "this path of no resistance
is the wicked path at our insistence"

We assume others will fight the good fight, but there are never enough. I honestly believe that 100 men standing up are 100 times more powerful than 1 organization of 100 men. The solitary man standing up for right should be an inspiration. Unfortunately, the powers that be will discredit him by any means possible, and the masses, tired and confused, allow it.

Awesome piece, hands down the best I've read in a while.

The human condition is not so much to live as long as possible, but to outlive everyone else. We protect our thoughts and ideas by all means necessary, at the cost of creating a more open and supportive society. I, too, almost never watch the news because it will upset me about the state of the world.

When logic conquers emotion and hope overrules fear, maybe things will be better.

When we all become sheep. What will be left? Powerful and worthwhile words written. Better to be the free beast than the cattle led to the slaughter. Thank you my friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.
