HOME COOKINGA Poem by TerryDarcy-Ryan akaSheerTerrora perfect winter day the fireplace a blaze dinner a simmer on the stove ready for warming to the bone my homemade Irish stew is perfect for cold winter days and poisoning you never finished the first bowl that's when it hit brutal my combination, the realization that I disguised your demise inside a bowl of Irish stew the first stages were a surprise attempting to see through confusion why I would feed you poison I sat calmly watching the torment it is only fair at this point waiting for the man I knew you began to demand that I help you to stop it, to fix it, take it all away the monster shows his face reaching, sweeping, grabbing for me with slow sloppy exaggeration I was prepared for this equation you are done dealing out pain only seconds remain a body doubled over in anguish tears, real tears to seal the deal and now you are dead I like you better this way back to the perfect winter day there is always such a mess with home cooking
