When you were still alive to comfort me,

You gave of yourself each and every day.

You held me closely when I needed you,

You brought me into this world at my birth

You taught me everything in life to know

You listened to me with understanding

You showed me how to have compassion

You looked into my heart and saw me

You took me by the hand and lead the way

You know Mom & Dad, I owe it all to you

Hi Debbie. This is a beautiful write and tribute to your parents; heartfelt with love. Skillfully crafted free verse which I enjoy. Good imagery, flow and tone. Line to line transition and breaks are well done. Very nice rhythm. Deep expression of emotion. You express how important they were and still are in your life; thankful to them for everything they gave you: love, understanding, compassion and friendship. They were and are a blessing to you and your respect for them shines in this piece. Very good word choice as is the repetition for emphasis of feeling. Just a note: I think there is a typo in line seven - should be 'listened'. Excellent closing lines. Well penned and a much enjoyed read. Write on!
